Independent dossier / North East focus, widened

Casino hotels for North East travellers — verified stay-and-play addresses, not nearby casinos.

The North East of England has licensed casinos, but no hotel with a casino genuinely on the premises. This guide widens to five operating casino hotels elsewhere in Great Britain that meet a strict integration test — shown here with openly licensed photography of the real buildings and settings.

From the North East outwards

Newcastle’s skyline has casinos — not casino hotels

Genting, Grosvenor and other operators run licensed floors in the region, but none sit inside a hotel building we could verify as currently trading. That is why this dossier widens the map honestly.

What this guide covers for North East readers

Stay & Play Review looks at hotels where a licensed casino is part of, attached to, or operated on the same property complex. A hotel that simply sits near an unrelated casino does not qualify.

After checking Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham and Teesside against official operator sites and the Gambling Commission premises register, we found no currently trading hotel that meets that test inside the North East. The five entries below are therefore widened to Great Britain, ordered by how tightly hotel and casino are integrated — not as a paid ranking.

Photography on this site comes from Wikimedia Commons under licences that allow reuse with attribution. Exterior shots show the real buildings or their immediate setting. Where freestyle interior shots of a specific casino floor are unavailable under a clear licence, we say so and do not invent them.

What this means for you

If you are starting from the North East, plan travel to one of these verified complexes rather than assuming a Newcastle or Sunderland hotel includes a casino floor.

How the five entries are ordered

  • How completely the casino shares the hotel building or resort complex.
  • Breadth of on-site facilities around the stay (dining, leisure, events).
  • Clarity that the casino is part of the same property offer, not a neighbour down the road.

Also on every venue page

Official hotel and casino links, a last-checked date, the named licensee where verified, and a reminder that casino floors are 18+ only.

Illustrative hotel interiors — not the venues above

Freely licensed interior photographs of the specific casino floors on this list are scarce. The images below are openly licensed London hotel interiors used only to show the kind of lobby and foyer atmosphere travellers associate with a stay-and-play trip. They are not photographs of Genting Hotel, Hilton Park Lane, Park Tower, the Palace Southend or the Coventry DoubleTree.

18+ casino floors and where to get help

Entry to licensed casinos in Great Britain is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. Hotel restaurants and rooms may welcome families where the hotel allows; the gaming floor does not.

Gambling involves risk and can become harmful. If you are unsure about your play, use established self-assessment tools rather than informal quizzes:

Common questions about this guide

Is Stay & Play Review an official hotel or casino website?

No. It is an independent, unofficial editorial guide. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any venue named here.

Why are there no North East casino hotels on the list?

Because we could not verify any currently trading hotel in the North East with a licensed casino on the premises or operated as part of the same property. Padding the list with nearby-but-separate casinos would mislead travellers.

Are the photographs official marketing shots?

No. Exterior and setting photographs are reused from Wikimedia Commons under their stated licences, with attribution beside each image. Illustrative lobby interiors on the homepage are clearly labelled as not belonging to the five venues.

Can I book rooms or buy chips on this site?

No. We do not take bookings or payments. Use each venue's official website or phone number for rooms, rates and casino registration.

How do I check a casino licence?

Use the Gambling Commission public register. We name licensees we have seen there and link to the register so you can verify for yourself.
