Responsible gambling for land-based casino visits

Casino floors in Great Britain are 18+ only. Gambling involves risk and can become harmful. This page points to independent help — it is not a diagnosis.

Eighteen and over on the gaming floor

You must be 18 or over to enter a licensed casino in Great Britain. Hotels and restaurants on the same site may welcome younger guests in non-gaming areas according to hotel policy. Always carry photo ID if you look under 25; operators run Challenge 25 checks.

Gambling is not a way to make money

Treat casino play as paid entertainment with an uncertain outcome. It is not an investment, not a solution to financial difficulty, and not a reliable source of income. Never chase losses.

Signs that play may be becoming harmful

  • Spending more time or money than you planned, or hiding play from people close to you.
  • Borrowing, using money meant for essentials, or feeling restless or irritable when not gambling.
  • Returning to “win back” losses, or gambling feeling like the only way to cope with stress.

For a structured check, use tools built by specialist charities — not homemade quizzes:

SENSE for land-based casinos

SENSE (Self Enrolment National Self Exclusion) lets you exclude yourself from licensed land-based casinos across Great Britain in one application. You can enrol online or ask a casino manager without entering the gaming area.

GAMSTOP covers online gambling only. It does not self-exclude you from physical casino venues. Use SENSE for land-based casinos.

Where to get independent support

Stay & Play Review is not a gambling operator and cannot enrol you in SENSE or provide counselling.
